Carrie Underwood, who has been the voice of NBC’s Sunday Night Football theme song since 2013, is at the center of fan demands to headline the Super Bowl 60 halftime show. The big game is set to take place on February 8, 2026, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, and will be broadcast on NBC.

The calls for Underwood to perform come after her recent appearance at President Donald Trump’s inauguration, where she sang America the Beautiful. Despite a technical mishap during the performance, where the music failed to play for several seconds, Underwood delivered an a cappella rendition that received mostly positive reviews. However, a source later revealed that the eight-time Grammy winner has been “second-guessing” her decision to perform at the event due to the incident.

Social media users have been vocal about their desire to see Underwood take the Super Bowl stage. NBC’s post on X (formerly Twitter) promoting next year’s Super Bowl sparked numerous comments from fans advocating for the country star.

One fan wrote, “We want a halftime show with Carrie Underwood,” while another added, “Next year the Super Bowl halftime show needs to have Carrie!” A third fan suggested, “Next year, the Super Bowl halftime show will feature Morgan Wallen & Carrie Underwood in a musical reboot of The Dukes of Hazzard.”

Underwood’s connection to NBC makes her a logical choice for the halftime show, given her long-standing partnership with the network.

Last year’s Super Bowl 59 halftime show featured Grammy-winning rapper Kendrick Lamar, who performed alongside R&B singer SZA. The performance, held at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, was widely praised by fans.

However, the event wasn’t without controversy. During Lamar’s performance, a protestor carrying a combined Palestinian and Sudanese flag made it onto the stage. The man remained on stage for several minutes before being noticed by security. He then jumped off the stage and ran onto the field, where he was tackled by a security worker.

The protestor was detained but will not face charges, according to the New Orleans police. However, he has been banned from all 32 NFL stadiums.

The NFL typically announces the Super Bowl halftime performer during the regular season. For Super Bowl 59, Lamar’s headlining role was revealed in September. Fans now eagerly await the announcement for Super Bowl 60, with many hoping Underwood will take center stage.
